Expanding curriculum from page to stage ...

A Real Absurd Epic

What is Missing Link?

Darwin’s Missing Link is a theatre-in-education company that currently operates under the auspices of Browns Mart Trustees.

This site contains information about the company, lots of weblinks relevant to drama studies and general theatre, and learning resources for students in senior high school English and Drama Studies.

There are also teachers' and students' blogs (short for weblogs) which allow you to discuss issues about drama studies with professional colleagues/fellow students. Teachers can post teaching materials or other material there, as well as discuss issues of mutual professional interest.

What does Missing Link do?

Missing Link exists to provide Darwin’s students with regular and high quality theatre that is relevant to the courses and texts they are studying.

Students are invited to come and watch the productions and/or participate in workshops related to those productions. It provides a link that moves the text from the page to the stage so that students can experience the texts they are studying live. Plays, after all, were written to be performed.

How does it work?

Missing Link seeks to work in close consultation with teachers in the Darwin and rural area.

English and Drama teachers are invited to attend an in-service in February that will consist of a preview of our first production A Real Absurd Epic followed by an information forum in which teachers can tell us what texts they have programmed for the year and the types of workshops their students need.

This will enable us to determine the content and timing of our next shows. In 2007 we are intending to produce at least three shows aimed mainly at senior English and drama students (although junior secondary students may also benefit from attending performances).
